I. OF THE SCRIPTURES
We believe that the Bible was written by
men divinely inspired by God, and, as such, is a perfect treasure of heavenly
instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth
without any mixture of error, for its matter; that it reveals the principles by
which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the
world, the true center of Christian unity, and the supreme standard by which
all human conduct and opinions should be evaluated (2 Tim 3:15-17).
II. OF THE TRUE GOD
We believe that there is one, and only one,
living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose is the Creator and Ultimate
Ruler of all that exists; inexpressibly amazing in perfection, and worthy of
all possible honor, praise, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the
Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit equal
in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in
the great work of redemption (1 Cor 8:4-6).
III. OF THE FALL OF HUMANKIND
We believe that humans were created sinless,
under the law of God; but by voluntary rebellion fell from that holy and happy
state; in consequence of which all humankind are now rebels against God by
choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of
God, positively inclined to selfishness; and therefore without defense or
excuse (Rom 5:12).
IV. OF THE WAY OF SALVATION
We believe that the salvation of sinners is
wholly of grace; through the life, death and resurrection of the Son of God;
who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself our nature, yet
without sin; honored the divine law by his personal obedience, and by his death
made a full atonement for our sins; that having risen from the dead he is now
enthroned in heaven but with sympathy toward sinners as one who was tempted in
every way, He is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate, and an
all-sufficient Savior (Jn 11:25-26; Acts 2:38; Rom 8:11; 2 Cor 5:21; Heb 4:15;
).
V. BEING MADE RIGHT WITH GOD
We believe that the Good News of Salvation
which Savior Jesus secures to all who have faith and repent [that is believe in-,
trust in- and turn from open rebellion to be loyal to God] produces Justification
or being declared to be right with God by the Heavenly Throne; that
Justification includes the forgiveness of sin, and the promise of eternal life through
King Jesus’ work; that it is granted, not in consideration of any good deed which
we have done, but solely through faith in King Jesus, the Savior; through faith
His perfect right standing with God is freely given to us; that it brings us
into a state of most blessed peace and favor with God, and secures every other
blessing necessary to serve Him (Gal 2:16; Eph 1:3).
VI. OF THE FREENESS OF SALVATION
We believe that the blessings of salvation
are made free to all by the Good News of Salvation; that it is the immediate
duty of all to accept them by grateful and obedient faith; and that nothing
prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent sinfulness
and voluntary rejection of the Good News of Salvation; which rejection involves
him in just condemnation (Jn 3:18; Rom 1:5; 6:23).
VII. OF GRACE IN REGENERATION
We believe that , in order to be saved,
sinners must be regenerated by the Holy Spirit or born again; that regeneration
consists in a new way of thinking dominated by love of God; that it is
effected, in a manner above our comprehension, by the power of the Holy Spirit
in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the
teachings of Scripture; and that its proper evidence appears in actions of
repentance and faith and newness of life (Ezek 36:26; Jn 3:3; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet
1:23).
VIII. OF REPENTANCE AND FAITH
We believe that Repentance and Faith are
sacred duties, and also inseparable graces, planted in our inner being by the
regenerating Spirit of God; whereby, being deeply convinced of our guilt,
danger of willful sin and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by King
Jesus, we turn to God with authentic sadness, confession, and request for
mercy; at the same time welcoming the Jesus as our Teacher, Priest, and King,
and relying on Him alone as the only and all-sufficient Savior.
IX. OF GOD'S PURPOSE OF GRACE
We believe that Election is the eternal
purpose of God, according to which He graciously changes, sets apart for
service, and saves sinners; that being perfectly consistent with the free will
of humans. It comprehends all the means in connection with the end; that it is
a most glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, being infinitely free,
wise, perfect, and unchangeable; that it utterly excludes boasting, and
promotes humility, love, prayer, praise, trust in God, and active imitation of His
free mercy; that it encourages the use of our God given gifts to their utmost;
that it may be seen by its effects in all who truly believe the Good News of
Salvation; that it is the foundation of Christian assurance; and that to see it
with regard to ourselves demands and deserves the utmost diligence (Eph
1:3-14).
X. OF SANCTIFICATION
We believe that Sanctification is the
process by which, according to the will of God, we grow in His perfection; that
it is a progressive work; that it is begun in regeneration; and that it is
carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy
Spirit, the Sealer and Comforter, in the continual use of the appointed
means-especially the Word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness, service,
praise and prayer (1 Cor 6:11; 1 Thess 4:3; 2 Thess 2:13).
XI. OF THE PERSEVERANCE OF TRUE BELIEVERS
We believe that such only are real
believers as remain faithful unto the end; that their persevering attachment to
the Savior is the grand mark which distinguishes them from that claim to be
true believers; that God watches over their welfare; and that they are kept by His
power through faith unto salvation (Jn 10:27-29; Phil 1:6)
XII. OF THE HARMONY OF THE LAW AND THE
GOSPEL
We believe that the Law of God is the
eternal and unchangeable principle of His character; that it is holy, just, and
good; that the inability which the Scriptures ascribe to fallen people to
fulfill its demands arises entirely from their love of sin; to deliver them
from which, and to restore them through Jesus, the Mediator to authentic
obedience to the holy Law, is one great end of the Good News of Salvation, and
of the means of grace connected with the establishment of the visible Church
(Rom 7:12).
XIII. OF A GOSPEL CHURCH
We believe that a visible church of God is
a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and
fellowship of the Good News of Salvation through King Jesus ; observing the perfect
teachings of the Savior; governed by God’s laws; and exercising the gifts,
rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its only scriptural
officers are those whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the letters
to Timothy and Titus (Rom 12:4-5; 1 Tim 3:1-15; Heb 10:24-25).
XIV. OF BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER
We believe that Christian Baptism is the
immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and
Holy Spirit to publicly declare, in a solemn and beautiful ceremony, our faith
in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin
and resurrection to a new life of service to King Jesus; that it is
prerequisite to the full benefits of the Lord's Supper/communion; in which the
members of the church, by the sacred use of bread and drink are to commemorate
together the dying love of the Savior; preceded always by solemn
self-examination (Matt 28:19; Rom 6:3-4; Gal 3:27).
XV. OF THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH
We believe that the first day of the week
is the Day God has set aside for the gathering of the church or the Christian
Sabbath; and is to be kept sacred, although not legalistically, to religious
purposes by the devout observance of congregational gathering for praise, the
Lord’s Supper and the preaching of the Word of God (1 Cor 16:2; Rev 1:10).
XVI. OF CIVIL GOVERNMENT
We believe that civil government is of
divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; and that
elected and appointed officials are to be prayed for, honored and obeyed;
except only in things opposed to the clear will of our King Jesus the Savior,
who is the only Lord of the conscience, and Ruler of Kings (Rom 13:1-7; Rev 1:5).
XVII. GENDER, LIFE AND MARRIAGE
We believe that God wonderfully and
immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct,
complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen
1:26-27) Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God
within that person. Thus, only genders genetically assigned by God are
recognized by Christ’s Community Church (hereafter “CCC).
We believe that the term “marriage” has
only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive
union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25) We believe that God intends
sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each
other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no
intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and
a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual
immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual
conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to
God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10)
We believe that in order to preserve the
function and integrity of CCC as representatives of the local Body of King
Jesus, the Savior, and to provide a biblical role model to the Christian
community who follow CCC and in general, it is imperative that all persons
employed by CCC in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide
by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16;
1 Thess 5:22)
We believe that God offers redemption and
restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and
forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11)
We believe that every person must be
afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mk 12:28-31; Lk
6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any
individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the
doctrines of CCC.
Further, we believe that humans are created
in the image of God, after His likeness, and therefore has transcendent,
intrinsic worth (Gen 1:27). The unjustified destruction of any human being from
conception to natural death (e.g., through abortion, embryonic stem cell
research, cloning, doctor-assisted suicide, etc.) is wrong (Exod 21:22).
Moreover, we believe God has made males to
be redeemed, strong but kind and hospitable leaders of the family and the
church (1 Cor. 11:3-16; Eph 5:21-33, etc.). We only recognize male leaders for
CCC who meet with the standards of 1 Tim 3:1-13 and Titus 1:6-9.
Thus, CCC adopts both the Denver and
Nashville Statements posted at

XVIII. OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED
We believe that there is a radical and
essential difference between those gifted right standing with God and those in
open rebellion against the Throne of Heaven; that such only as through faith
are declared to be in the right in the name of the King Jesus, and sanctified
by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His view; while all such as
continue in rebellion and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the
curse; and this distinction holds among people both in and after death (Jn
3:16-18; 2 Cor 5:10; etc).
XIV. OF THE WORLD TO COME
We believe that the end of the world is
approaching; that at the last day King Jesus will descend from heaven, and
raise the dead from the grave to final judgment or reward; that a solemn
separation will then take place; that the wicked will be adjudged to endless
punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix
forever the final state of people in heaven or hell, on principles of
righteousness (Matt 25:31-46; Jn 5:2; 1 Cor 15:12ff; Rev 20-22).
