About Us
These few lines are intended to introduce you to the fellowship of believers known as Christ’s Community Church.
Our first formal gathering was on September 20, 1970. The handful of believers was committed to turning the Portsmouth area into Christ’s Community.
Christ’s Community has chosen not to affiliate with any denomination. We are not opposed to denominations per se but believe that the over emphasis on doctrinal differences creates division in the Body of Christ.
We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is God’s “Agape” love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no legitimate claim to the term “Christian”.
God has truly blessed our efforts, but we are far from being a perfect church. We are forgiven sinners who believe passionately that Jesus is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind, the Messiah of the Old Testament, the only head of the church and our personal Savior.
We extend to you a sincere invitation to make Christ’s Community Church your church home.
